M&M's for Women met this past Monday evening at Pastor Stephanie's home. Kaylee led worship and it was just a great time!

It was such a sweet time that when Pastor Stephanie left her notes for the night here in the office - we thought we'd share them here with you!

Growing in Knowing God

Scripture references: Phil. 3:1-10, Jer. 9:23-24, and Psalm 25: 4-5

Life as a Christian is all about the lifelong journey growing in relationship and knowledge of God. The question we must ask ourselves and answer is: Can we as believers grow in our relationship with God all throughout life, in the good times and in the bad? The answer absolutely yes.

Paul pens this personal letter to the Philippians from a prison cell in Rome in which he comes to terms with an accomplished past and a confining present. In spite of it all, he comes to the liberating conclusion that all, accomplishments and confinement are but rubbish compared to knowing God. Phil. 3:8-10 speaks of the excellency of knowing God in the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings and to be found only in knowing Him.

How does one grow in the knowledge of God? Here is a simple formula to help in your understanding.

Aware + Encounter+ Revelation = Knowledge of God

Being aware that there is a God is not enough. An encounter with God must be purposed not a haphazard, by chance meeting. Revelation is to be accepted and received, truth that is life changing.

In the Philippians text, Paul’s desire to know Christ sprang from no other motive but to enjoy Him. He wanted Christ for Christ’s sake, not his own. He was a lover of God, not a user of God. And whether he moved in Christ’s resurrection power or was stretched to his last ounce of endurance, it mattered little. For Paul, it was all a part of the most fulfilling journey of all: truly knowing God. (Kingdom Dynamics, pg. 1664).
