Staying Plugged In ... When You Travel Posted on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 @ 11:00:00 MDT

At one point in my life, I was in full-time ministry. I remember when a co-worker asked the head of the organization if we could take a vacation. The response was "The devil doesn't take a vacation...so why should you?"
WOAHHH!!! That was harsh! But you know what...that statement was basically correct.
It was misused, but it was correct! We need to stay plugged into the Lord and our church family wherever we go and not take a mental or spiritual vacation even though we are physically out of town.
It is vital to stay plugged into the fellowship we call SouthPoint Church.
Going on vacation, whether it is for a weekend or three weeks is great, but don't spiritually unplug during that time away. I don't live in fear that I'm going to lose my salvation if I'm not sitting in church every week but I know that without staying in touch with the Lord and fellow Christians, it's tough out there.
We have a totally techno church that provides spiritual food for us whenever we will take the time to upload and connect.
For example, if you have the capability on your phone, laptop, or IPOD, download the MP3 of the message from Sunday's sermon. I'm sure if you understand how to upload music on one of your media players...then you know what I am talking about.
I have purchased two little IPOD Shuffles. One is targeted for my favorite tunes, and the other is specifically for podcast sermons and occasionally business related lectures. By listening to the sermons on SouthPoint's website, you’ll keep up with the great teaching, and you'll also have your spirit fed while you are away from home while camping, laying on a beach, or even driving long distances in the desert (as I did a few weeks ago).
Since my job requires me to travel, I have a little notepad computer with a wireless hookup. Any place I have cell phone coverage, I can hook up to the Internet. If I want to know what's up for the week at SouthPoint, I can go to the website (http://www.southpointchurch.com) and read the weekly bulletin online, upload the sermon, and even hear Pastor Keith's most recent phone message. Check it out...it's the green ONE CALL NOW button at the bottom of the page.
Did you know that there is a daily Bible reading on the SouthPoint website? They think of EVERYTHING! There's a link called "Today's Bible Reading" in the upper right column of the main SouthPoint web page. If you subscribe to Twitter or FaceBook, you can also receive daily Bible readings through those applications.
SouthPoint's Facebook URL is:
http://www.facebook.com/SouthPointFresno
and to join in on SouthPoint Tweets, login in at: http://twitter.com/SouthPointTweet
I invite you to investigate this great website and find creative ways to stay plugged in when you are on the road. Let us know!
That's it for now. Be blessed, stay safe and keep in touch.
