Pass It On Weekend

Pass It On Weekend

Apr 29, 2011

A new month has come and gone this beautiful spring and we have another opportunity to love on someone unsuspecting.

This Sunday, May 1st, we are going to the home of one of our very own. Here’s the background on how this family was chosen. The day before our last “Pass It On” Brian (our fearless leader) was asked to assist in moving Helen Rodriguez and her son from their apartment into their new home which is caddy-corner from the church. Brian and another strong back made the move happen. Helen’s son was so completely blown away by this kindness that he just kept thanking the men over and over and over! (See people sometimes our actions speak profoundly!!) He was so blessed, as was Helen!

This past year Helen’s husband, Joe passed away. He had been on SouthPoint’s prayer list. It has been a hard time for both Helen and her son as they navigate through this time in their lives. Brian recalled praying for Joe and felt that blessing the Rodriguez family with “Pass It On” was the perfect thing to do. They do not have yard tools, having moved from an apartment into a home with a yard that is in need of some tender loving care.

The tasks for the weekend project include: the lawn needs mowing, weeds are overgrown and will need tending, the trees need to be trimmed, a fence and gate need repairs, the flower beds need edging, composting and flowers put in.

If you are interested in helping out it is Sunday, May 1st immediately following service, SouthPoint will provide lunch for you, you provide the tools and yourself! Come to church in your grubbies and get ready for another adventure in giving! If you’re bringing (much-needed) your yard tools and equipment, please remember to label them so they don’t get mixed up.

God loves a cheerful giver and boy it sure makes those given to cheerful as well!

See you Sunday, and don’t forget your gloves!
