May Heats Up in High School

Apr 19, 2012

Each year the month of May encapsulates an amazing series of Battle of the Classes in UTURN. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes are pitted against each other in a race to receive the most points possible for their class. Points are scored by how many people from each class are present, courage and wit in the elaborate system of games, and as always, the costumes. The more friends you invite and the more actively you participate in each night’s events – the more points you get towards winning.

This year the first night is Game Show Night on our new High School night, Tuesdays; that’s May 1st, at 6:30 at SouthPoint. Each student will dress in business attire like Jeopardy, and will participate in games based around all the family fun television game shows. Everything from Family Feud to Minute to Win It will give each one a chance to win points for their team and fantastic prizes for themselves. The Second week is Christmas in May. All the activities will be outdoors with decorations and games based on the Christmas season. The third week is the final competition, and it’s a night of Disney. Each class will pick a Disney movie and perform a skit based on that movie to perform. Different requirements for the skit will determine who wins the most points for their skit.

The last UTURN night in May has historically become our Senior Night. This is the last night for the seniors graduating out of the youth group, and really their Last Hurrah. One of their favorite memories of this night is recounting favorite memories from youth group past. It’s a blessing to have a night dedicated to these students who have been in the youth group for a time and are now moving on to bigger things in life.

Every year we say, “This is going to be the best Battle of the Classes yet!” This year it’s truer than ever! We are pulling all the strings to make these nights the most awesome. It is going to be a month they will never forget.
